“ We just happened to stop on our way back from Nashville to Wisconsin. What a pleasant surprise! Great service and wonderful food! Our party of four ordered Burritos, Quesadillas, Taco Salad and Veggie Fajitas. All of us thought our choices tasted amazing, but the Fajitas were especially beautiful and sizzling! The building was clean, neat and very inviting! ”

“ Blue Margaritas is an excellent restaurant to go to for lunch or dinner if you're in the Oglesby area or checking out Starved Rock (it's 10 minutes away). We tried their chips & salsa, the Shrimp Diabla and the Shrimp Ceviche. The shrimp Diabla was amazing - the sauce is very hot and spicy, only order it if you love spice like I do! It comes with a side salad, rice and vegetables with some flour tortillas as well. The shrimp ceviche was also great, very tasty and refreshing light meal - but as a bigger portion size that comes with some tostadas as well. The inside was very well decorated with Mexican decor and they have a huge bar with a variety of Margaritas (I didn't get to enjoy this time - maybe next time as they looked delicious). Our server was very good as well, attentive and friendly - the food is also reasonably priced. I highly recommend a visit to Blue Margaritas - 5 stars. ”

“ We were staying next door at Best western and didn't care to drive anymore. We walked over. I ordered a Horchata and it was good. Also did combo of beef taco, beef Burrito and Chile releno. I removed the tortillas and taco shell due to low carb eating. I did eat a lot of chips and salsa though. We shared fried ice cream and it was really good too. Server kept calling me miss and both of us amigos. 4 star review as the meal spouse had, he needed pepto, Alka seltzer and baking soda for gastro issues. ”

“ Food, service and ambiance are fantastic. We ordered new items on the menu (Pollo Veracruz) and it was delicious. Guacamole appetizer was very fresh and more than enough for two people. We are travelers and the 40'RV had plenty of parking space in back for our rig plus tow vehicle. This will be a favorite again when passing through. ”

“ Carlos was amazing! An excellent Mexican restaurant. Jolie the hostess was so welcoming. There was a large party in front of us when we arrived. Jolie knowledged us and then when she sat us right away she said sorry for the wait. Haha it was a 30 second wait, that's already a good sign of great service. We started with the fresh guacamole which was served in the cutest molcajete bowl, a little bull! It was my belated birthday celebration so I tried some margaritas of course. The 18oz Top Shelf Margarita and the blue margarita (I only ordered this caus of the name of the restaurant haha). I preferred the top shelf one although both were overly sweet for my palate. Brother and I shared the Camaron A La Diabla (hoooo weee that's spicy!). The shrimp were enormous and so good. Lots of spicy sauce. We also shared the Arroz Con Marisco. The marisco meal was my favorite. Big juicy scallops and shrimp mmm. The cheesy sauce was very good. Mom had some tacos a La carte and she enjoyed them. The only thing I didn't like about this place was the lighting was overly bright. The facility is very clean and the service is top notch. The food this visit was delicious. ”

“ The food here is absolutely outstanding. This was the BEST Mexican food I think I've had in a very, very long time. We got the $42 Parillada Margarita platter which serves 3 people. It comes with steak, chicken, pork, chorizo, shrimp you also get one cheese quesadilla, rice, beans, and all the toppings on the side, like sour cream, guacamole, lettuce and cheese. The white queso cheese sauce was delicious. The steak was phenomenal, that was everyone's favorite meat from the platter. It had a buttery/tenderness to it. The steak literally melted in your mouth. We all really liked every meat. Everything was seasoned to perfection and I'm not even a pork fan and the pork was really good. This was probably the best chorizo I've ever had. Definitely better than the stuff you can get at the grocery store. I highly recommend! We brought plenty of food home and were highly satisfied. The service was great. The guy that was working was very friendly and attentive. They give you complementary chips and salsa and the restaurant is very clean. ”

“ My husband and I had dinner here the other day with my brother-in-law. We've visited this area a few times so we're well aware of the lack of good Mexican food so when we went here for dinner we didn't have high hopes. Fortunately for us, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was good and to hold true to its name the margaritas are sometimes blue and always delicious. I ordered a flight and loved all the different flavors they had. My only qualm was that it was suppose to be 6 different margaritas and instead of a 6th flavor it was just a combination of two of the others. My husband and I ordered the molcajete supremo and shared it as it had a ton of food. I really enjoyed it. I'd come back to this little spot since it was delicious, reasonably priced and actually had lovely art. ”

“ My buddy and I happened to be in the same state so I drove the hour from my hotel to his so we could grab dinner and hassle each other unmercifully. The joy of adult male friendships is that we rarely progress past age 13 in our treatment of one another. Ain't love grand? Both of us are Mexican food enthusiasts so Blue Margs was the obvious choice. We arrived early in the evening on a Tuesday, not terribly busy but not empty. Several more tables were seated after we arrived so we timed it well. The place was clean and well decorated with what I've come to expect in a Mexican restaurant. Southwest patterns, the painting of Frida, comforting imagery for a guy who grew up in the Southwest. We were seated immediately by very polite hosts. The whole place was clean and welcoming. The Latin music was at just the right level for conversation but definitely a presence. I never visited the restroom there, so I can't speak to its cleanliness but judging by the rest of the place, I'd bet it was acceptable. My buddy, let's call him Nate, is diabetic so he wanted Coke Zero. Only Diet Coke available but he tells me that's common. He got his soda and I got a Paloma. I'm a bit of an amateur bar tender so I know how to make a perfect Paloma. The bartender at Blue Margs made the best one I've had. 12 out of 10! Better than perfect! Nate's Coke was fine, I'm sure. The obligatory chips and salsa came out and they were both great. I judge a Mexican place pretty heavily on the salsa, and this was quite good. It wasn't quite as chunky or spicy as I prefer but it didn't make me immediately think of something out of a bottle. The chips were warm and multicolored, which I always appreciate. Maybe not house-made but fresh and crunchy. 8 out of 10. Nate is one of those weird molé guys. If you don't know, molé is a sauce that's sometimes (often? always? I don't know, dude) made with cocoa or chocolate. I've tried and tried but I can't get into it. He got the pollo con molé and reported that it was good but his home-made was better. I've never had his but I'll believe his opinion of both since I'm not a fan. 7.5 out of 10 maybe? I don't know, ask Nate. I got my all-time fave, and the dish I use to judge the entire experience, camarones a la diabla (that's deviled shrimp for my Spanish-challenged readers). It was an excellent sign when the server gave me a spice warning. I wanna be sweating after my meal, lips numb and nose running. That's an appropriate spice level. It did not disappoint in the least. The sautéed veggies were spiced just right and still had their own flavors rather than the homogeneous melange you get when they're over cooked. The rice was also excellent and the little side "salad" provided a good crunch and a little cooling effect for the spice of the shrimp. And oh, the shrimp! Perfectly cooked. That's not hyperbole either. This was absolutely perfect shrimp, even without the sauce. Perfect sear, not rubbery from too long in the pan, just a masterful preparation of one of my favorite ocean monsters. The sauce made it even better, if such a thing is possible. It was tangy, plenty spicy, and worked well with everything on the plate. If Blue Margs bottled this stuff, I'd buy it and put it on everything. 20 out of 10. Legit the best camarones a la diabla I've had anywhere. The people of the Peru/Oglesby, IL, area have a real treasure at Blue Margaritas. If you've never been and you live there, that's a terrible shame. Go! Right now! ”

“ We had been told about Blue Margaritas from a friend that said they liked it so when my husband and I were in the area we decided to try it for ourselves and we were happy we did. There is plenty of free parking right outside the door and it had easy access to the highway. The restrooms were clean, roomy and easy access. The restaurant appeared to be clean, newly refurbished, and easy to navigate even if using a walker, cane or crutches. As soon as we were seated they brought out multicolored chips and salsa. I asked if they had a housemade hot salsa and they did not disappoint, they brought it out and it was fantastic. They have your standard Mexican fare and everything we ordered was brought out hot fresh and in a reasonable amout of time. The chicken fajita quesadilla was very good and really unique. Both meals came with refried beans, rice, sour cream and pico. The drink menu had plenty of choices, we tried the Paloma and it was outstanding, full of flavor. ”

“ First day open. Went and saw Alex, who we recognized but didn't know he started working at this establishment. He was our favorite server for years. Food was very good. Salsa not too spicy. Had samples of margaritas and they were good but very potent. Left very full with plenty of food. Definitely suggest to others to try it. A great addition to restaurants around the Illinois Valley. ”
